Constable Michael Gothard I started my law enforcement career as a Reserve Deputy with Constable Pct. 3 in August, 1985, after attending the Criminal Justice Academy at the Texas A&M University System for a Basic Reserve Officers certificate. In March, 1986, I became a full-time Deputy with Constable Pct. 3 and attended the Dallas County Sheriff's Academy and graduated on December 19, 1986. After graduation, I did a 3 month ride-along with the Garland Police Department to see the different types of law enforcement and for more on-the-street training. After that, I was assigned to the Civil Division of the Constable Pct. 3 office, and eventually was placed in the Warrant Division. In August, 1995, I was promoted to Sergeant and served in that capacity until January 16, 2001, when I was unanimously appointed by the Dallas County Commissioners to fill the unexpired term of retiring Constable Don Ashlock. On January 1, 2003, I was elected Constable of what is now Pct. 2 (after redistricting), and have served the citizens of Pct. 2 with integrity and pride. It has been a great privilege and honor to serve the residents of Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, Mesquite, Sunnyvale, and Balch Springs for the past 9 years. |
